Transformational innovation in the water sector
Download PDFWelcome to this short video introducing Systems' Coaching, its development and potential in regard to innovation for the water sector. The presentation was offered to the partnership brokerage event on 28th January 2021.
The purpose of Systems' Coaching is to enable matrix type organisation typically found in utilities, engineering, project, programme and asset management to be more effective during times of systemic change and uncertainty.
Systems’ Coaching is an innovation in ‘organisation design’ that originated during the AMP 2 capital programme in response to problematic wastewater projects and strategic programmes. Subsequently the approach has been developed, piloted and refined for over 20 years and speaks to the transformation of matrix organisations.
Notably an early prototype achieved finalist at the U.K. National Business Awards in 2004. Then it operated within a tier 1 contractor with AMP 3 & 4 strategic programme relationships with many water companies. Thereafter the approach developed in relationship with a variety of niche consultancies outside the sector and then later applied and further refined within a National Water Company in the Middle East undergoing significant and rapid systemic transformation. Finally, a blueprint of the approach has been compiled and articulated in a book published in December 2020.
The Systems’ Coaching approach may be applied as an internal function or a centre of excellence positioned either nationally, regionally or within an enterprise setting.
